Problem

Home security dashboards often overload users with disconnected camera feeds, alerts, sensor data, and device controls. The design challenge was to create a dashboard that helps users quickly answer:

“What happened?”
“Where did it happen?”
“How serious is it?”
“What should I do next?”

Process

1. Defined the main information groups: live preview, alerts, activity, zones, system/device status, and quick controls.
2. Created reusable alert and activity card components.
3. Designed visual severity states for critical, warning, and safe events.
4. Built dashboard variations to test hierarchy, spacing, and readability.
5. Refined the interface for scanability and quick action.

I created:

• Alert card component
• Activity card component
• Menu icons
• Severity color styles
• Text styles
• Zone activity map
• Quick controls

As reusable Figma components so security events could be updated without rebuilding the layout. Alert level, event type, location, timestamp, icon, and preview image can be swapped while preserving the same visual structure.
